THE FIELDS AND APPLICATIONS OF THE LAUDA MODELS

MANY APPLICATIONS, ONE CERTAINTY: LAUDA

Temperature control is necessary in a wide variety of fields: in the sutomotive sector, in material test, in the semiconductor industry, in chemistry, in the medical technology, pharmaceutical industry and more.
In this post we will show and explain some of the applications and field were temperature control in important, with the best related products.

APPLICATIONS FIELDS

AUTOMOTIVE
In the automotive sector, temperature control is mainly found in test and inspection rigs, as well as material tests. In this case, circulation chillers, Thermostats (cooling bath thermostats and process thermostats) help to expose to extremely high temperature fluctuations materials to test.
This testing process makes an important contribution to increasing quality and reliability of the components

Here all typical areas of application:
WIRELESS CHARGING; TESTING BATTERIES; COMPONENT AND MATERIAL TESTS; INJECTOR TEST; TESTING PUMPS; AIR TEMPERATURE CONTROL; AIRBAG TESTS.INJECTOR TEST.

THE LAUDA MODELS USED
Immersion thermostats: from the simple Alpha, to the ECO Silver and ECO Gold models, with programming.
Chillers: from the Microcool countertop chiller to the powerful Variocool.

BIOTECHNOLOGY
Biotechnology is the use of living organisms or their components, such as DNA, to develop products or techniques for specific purposes. It principles from biology, chemistry, and other sciences to create new techniques and technologies. Common applications of biotechnology include the production of food, medicine, and other materials, as well as genetic engineering and bioremediation.

In biotechnology, temperature control is essential to the quality of research and production results. As part of sample preparation, there are a variety of work steps that require reliable temperature control.

Specific applications are: pulp coltivation; fermenter; breedings; bioreactoren; together with rheometer and viscometer etc.

The Lauda's instruments frequently used in this sector are ECO heating thermostats, Variocool circulation and LOOP circulation thermostat.

CHEMISTRY and PHARACEUTICAL INDUSTRY
Many processes in the chemical and pharmaceutical industry where temperature plays an important role are in the field of process engineering and reactor temperature control. At tempering processes in reactors, applications such as chemical reactions, syntheses, production of drug substances, polymerizations or crystallizations take place.

What is Temperature control of reactors?
Reactors generally have an inner vessel containing the samples which require temperature control. The inner vessel is surrounded by heat-transfer liquid, connected with the thermostat for temperature control systems. The thermostat balance the temperature of the inner vessels by continuously pumps the heat-transfer liquid, heating or cooling.

Also in this field, you can find in the Variocool models a faithfull companion or, for small spaces, the new LOOP models.

Story: Exactmer, Queen Mary University of London, wants to redefine new industrial standards for the production of polymers for pharmaceutical use.
What do they need? Cool their processes to almost zero degrees Celsius for an effective reaction.
Solution? LAUDA ECO RE 1050 G. Why? Exactmer was able to easily integrate the ECO RE 1050 into their work process and interface it with their internal control system. The LAUDA thermo-cryostat has improved laboratory safety and efficiency. Additionally, Exactmer explained that they chose LAUDA for 'excellent customer service and maintenance support'.

MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY
In medical technology, temperature control is found primarily in the laboratory for sample preparation and in medical devices machines, medical lasers or devices used in pharmaceutical and medical laboratories.

Analytical lab equipment produce heat that must be removed effectively, such as x-ray diffractometers, mass spectrometers

For Medical application we can suggest Alpha heating thermsotat, ECO cooling thermostats and Microcool circulation chiller.

BOTANICAL EXTRACTIONS

In these field, like isolation and refinement process of CBD or other cannabinoids, stable and precise temperature control can be helpful in many ways, such as reduced process time, increased solvent recovery, and improvements in product purity.
During this processes, the time to reach the process-critical temperature, strong and reliable temperature control increase efficiency and reducing stress due to possible stricht schedules.

As an example, more specific applications are: winterization; filtration; solvent recovery; recrystallisation; reciper and quality control.

For this field they are suitable Chiller up to 10kW and thermostats wih bath.

TEST APPLICATIONS

TEST OF SLIDING BEARINGS
Test of sliding bearings is a method used to assess the ability of a bearing to resist wear and tear, and to provide lubrication. This test is typically performed in a laboratory setting, and involves running a bearing in a controlled environment, with controlled loads and speeds, to measure the amount of wear and tear it can withstand.

Lauda heating controlled systems can keep the temperature of the environment under constant controll.

BEER FORCING TEST
Accelerated ageing, beer force-ageing or the beer forcing test, is a well-established method that is used to simulate normal storage, lasting several months, in the course of a few days. So, It determines the product life of beer before clouding.

The simulated aging process is achieved through a programmable temperature profile which is repeated until the first clouding develops.

In the most common beer forcing test according to MEBAK® beer bottles are exposed to a temperature of 40-60 °C during a warm phase, followed by 0 °C during a cold phase alternately for 24 hours at a time.

BENDING TEST OF THE NOTCH
A bending test with notch is a type of mechanical testing that is used to measure the fracture toughness of a material. It involves applying a force to a sample of the material that has a notch cut into it. The amount of force required to cause the material to fracture is then measured, and the fracture toughness of the material is calculated.

BROOKFIELD TEST
The Brookfield Test is a method used to measure the viscosity of a liquid. It involves using a Brookfield Viscometer, which is a device that measures the resistance of a liquid to flow when a spindle is rotated in it. The viscosity of the liquid is then determined by the speed of the spindle and the torque required to rotate it.

Why a bath control temperature for viscosity measurement? As viscosity of all materials is a temperature-dependent phenomenon, temperature control during viscosity measurement helps ensure accurate test results. Different temperature can lead to different properties of the liquid measured. To make a test in "ambient temperature" is too general, as it can easily be set up between 18-25 degree.

The beacker for viscosity test can be easily placed inside the tank of the heating/refrigerated thermostat.

All of these considerations confirm that the best test approach when measuring viscosity is to use the bath for temperature control of the sample.

For this operation we suggest a simple water bath heating thermotat as theA12 and A24 Lauda, or the refrigerated thermostat RA 8.

SEMICONDUCTOR COATING
Applying a thin film coating on the semiconductors can not only improve their efficiency, but also extend their service life.

In this process as in the production of semiconductors itself, there are numerous processes that must be exactly tempered. These include, for example, the organometallic vapor phase deposition (MOCVD) in semiconductor coating as a precursor of LED production. Other typical temperature-dependent investigations in the semiconductor industry include stress tests for function and load testing, environmental simulations, and incircuit tests of electronic assemblies.

For this applications is usually used the PRO line, as the model PRO P 10 or the big PRO P 30.
